NYFW, every fashionista's favorite bi-annual holiday. This year, IMG held NYFW at not one but two new locations: Skylight at Moynihan Station, at 360 West 33rd Street in Midtown, and Skylight Clarkson Square, at 550 Washington Street in SoHo.
Celebrated during NYFW are other events including MADE Fashion Week at Milk Studios and Style Fashion Week at Gotham Hall.

Nicholas K

My first and one of my favorite shows of the season was Nicholas K. Nicholas K is a New York based design company, founded in January of 2003 by siblings Nicholas and Christopher Kunz. Nicholas K was conceptualized with the intent of providing sophisticated customers with modern classics to become wardrobe staples. The design duo Nicholas K is branded as the urban nomad with it's unique style with influences of urban utilitarianism, natural elements, and a hint of post-apocalyptic future Not a surprise, their far out style has created the opportunity to design costumes for the Hunger Games. My favorite outfit is the cowl neckline dress in a white & blue died fabric.
Supima Design Competition

The Supima Design Competition is an annual fashion competition between the elite fashion school across the USA including RISD, FIT and Pratt. This year was the 8th annual competition hosted by former Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo. This year's winner was Kate McKenna a 24 year fashion designer from SCAD. Her designs were inspired by West African and Haitian voodoo influences mixed in with traditional indigo dying and basket weaving methods. “I design with a narrative, there’s always a reason or inspiration for silhouettes and details. I like to tell stories through my designs,” - Kate McKenna. My favorite look from the designer was the woven cream and blue indigo dyed dress.

Although designer Nnamdi Agum wasn't the winner, his collection was my favorite. Nnamdi Agum is a 26 year old fashion designer from FIT. His collection featured romantic dresses featuring roses, gorgeous silhouettes and creative weaving. “New York’s rooftops are noted for their spectacular skyline views—but there’s so much more to them that most people never see. There are often lush, vibrant, amazing things in bloom, cultivated for their beauty, on those rooftops, known only to their privileged inhabitants. The collection is a cheeky nod to the beautiful secrets one may find, tucked away, just beneath the skyline,” -Nnamdi Agum. My favorite dress from his collection was the berry long sleeve dress featuring flowers and a single front slit. A free T-shirt from Supima was given to the guests of the show. The reception party is held during Paris Fashion Week at the US Embassy in Paris, France.
David Tupaz

The first show of Style Fashion Week wasDavid Tupaz, a Filipino designer specializing in womenswear couture. "Fashion is the extension of our personalities. It dignifies our humanity just like art and music. I believe in capturing elegance; an allure of romantic feminism with a tailored twist. It speaks of a modern dignified grace..." - David Tupaz. David has a very feminine style with his flirty silhouettes and attention to fine detail. My favorite outfit is the red dress paired with the ruffle jacket and belt. I happen to adore the color red, I think it is very striking on a woman.

Malan Breton is a Taiwanese award winning fashion designer based in New York City. His brand founded in 2005 consist of womenswear, menswear, bridal and accessories. "Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Breton has been designing since the age of 11 and is known for his signature detailing, and fabrics. Malan Breton® is noticed as one of the top three hundred of all luxury brands in the world. In 2015 Malan Breton received the Taiwan Tourism Award an honour given by the President and Goverment of Taiwan." My favorite design from the collection is the long cream lace appliqué dress featuring delicate pearls.

Johana Hernandez, designer of Glaudi, was nominated by PEOPLE Magazine en Espanol in 2014 as one of the 25 most powerful women.
Glaudi is an avant-garde collection designed for the elite woman who love to be in the spotlight. Johan is an LA based women's wear designer born in Compton, California. "At 19, she earned her first job as a head designer and her first collection was on Wall Street Journal and at 22 she became head designer of Seven7 Jeans, designing for all categories including plus size, and now has designed for Isaac Mizrahi Jeans, Eli Tahari, Hannah Montana license, Disney license and more. " My favorite design from the collection is the floor length backless dress with shear accents.

Nancy Vuu is a luxury couture brand for children and teens. Nancy Vuu is praised as high-class elegance making a change in children's fashion. "Each piece is meticulously crafted with the utmost attention to detail and quality. Once made, the garments are given a carefully thought out name that holds a beautiful virtue and blessing to be bestowed upon the child it adorns. Made with purpose and assignment, each garment is sent to remind the child that they are deeply loved and of royalty." - Nancy Vuu. My favorite piece from the collection is the yellow and blue floral pattern dress. I think the print is absolutely gorgeous and regal.
