The Simply Stylist Beauty and Fashion Conference took place at the W Hotel in NYC. I was so excited to attend with my fashionista bestie Bianca from Clothes Horse Clothing. Of course we were wearing our favorite Kent Stetson Handbags. My complete outfit included a BCBG draped skirt, gray express sweater top, BCBG lace up shoes & a red leather & python Kent Stetson bag. Bianca wore her own fabulous creation, a pink polka dot skirt paired with a jumpsuit and Kent Stetson donut clutch. The Simply Stylist event was created to bring fashion professionals into one place to tell their story and give industry advice to aspiring fashionistas. Key speakers at the event included Olivia Culpo, June Ambrose, Catt Sadler and Madison Guest. There were also many workshops including a blogger 101 session. The event kicked off with a VIP brunch where we mingled and munched on some delicious bites. There were aspiring speeches all day where we learned how these professionals made it in the industry. After the speeches we mingled and met with celebrity stylists, bloggers, photographers and other fashionistas. There was also another room filled with different vendors speaking about their product and forming collaborations with bloggers. Dove was one of the key sponsors at the Simple Stylist Conference. They designed a cutting-edge dry spray deodorant that is easy to use and virtually invisible. I was so excited to get a to start using it in my morning routine. At the conference I met Hannah Ziegler, photographer and Creative Director of Spire & Co, who I am very excited to have on board as my NYC blog photographer.

You all must know by now that I have been working for handbag designer Kent Stetson as his pr girl.
For the past two years I have been part-time managing his social media, website design and selling at special events such as StyleWeek and Trade Shows. While I was working for Kent I had full-time jobs first as an Assistant Manager for Abercrombie & Fitch Company and then as a Jewelry/Belt Designer for Kerissa Creations. Now, Kent offered me a position full-time as his Public Relations & Account Manager. Total dream job. A few things I do: manage all of our accounts, Brand Ambassador during NYFW, run sales at special events, send celebrities and industry professionals Kent bags, secure press placements.... The list goes on. I have been running to NYC every other week meeting with fashion professionals, attending important industry events & interviewing with magazines. It is a lot of work and can become extremely exhausting, but it is rewarding. I have immersed myself in the fashion industry for about 7 years now, since planning and designing for my first show as my senior project in high school. Since then I have been involved with and attended hundreds of important events. I initiated my blog into the fashion realm a little over 2 years ago and it has grown to become a platform for showcasing what I am doing in the fashion world, my style, and my golden ticket into exclusive fashion events. Paris here I come. As you may know, I am a painter so I adore when forms of art are incorporated into designs. Although I always paint Landscapes, my favorite type to wear is Abstract art. This season is all about elongating your body, so I like mixing my short dresses with high boots paired with a long vest. Every celebrity and fashionista is wearing these sexy high boots. & it keeps going! It feels like fashion week never ends. I got invited to 17 shows so I had one of the busiest weeks of my life. Sunday I got invited to the Vivienne Hu SS16 runway show. Tuesday I got invited to the infamous Badgley Mischka SS16 and The Art Institute of NY SS16 show. It was such an incredible experience. I am so grateful to be living my fashion dream. S H O W Vivienne HuVivienne Hu is a New York based designer with a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons the New School for Design. Prior to launching her line in 2012, Vivienne had accumulated industry experience working for Oscar de la Renta and Yigal Azrouel. For her SS16 collection, Vivienne collaborated with Swarovski crystals and incorporated them into some of her elegant designs. My favorite piece from the collection was the white and light pink halter dress with black and silver Swarovski details. S H O W S Badgley Mischka I was so excited to view the elegant womenswear designer brand, Badgley Mischka. "Mark Badgley and James Mischka have been hailed by Vogue as one of the "Top 10 American Designers" and as the darlings of the Hollywood set. The design duo has made their mark over the past two decades with glamorous, stylish and wearable evening wear and accessories." I love the fine detail that is showcased in Badgley Mischka's collections. My favorite piece is the cream low neckline dress with side gathers. I also adore the high slit white dress with side cut out and crystal detail aligning the side seam. The Art Institute of NY"The Art Institutes is a system of over 50 schools across North America. We provide hands-on education in the creative and applied arts by offering master's, bachelor's and associate's degree programs as well as non-degree programs. For employers, we provide an important source of culinary, design, fashion and media arts professionals." 12 design students and alumni from The Art Institute of New York were selected to debut their collections at NYFW. Their collections represent passion, vision and motivation to success. My favorite look was the sheer coverup with bikini combo by Ebony Taylor. |
