Sierra & Peter
We got married in Seymour, CT at The Inn at Villa Bianca. The Inn had a chapel on site. We asked Peter's father to get his license to marry us. It was a wonderful ceremony. The cocktail hour was outside and the reception was in The Rose room.Villa Bianca: http://www.villabianca.com/
My original thought for a dress was barely no beads, needed to be satin and dropped waist style. I went to at least 20 different places around CT, RI, MA and tried on at least 50 different dresses. I found two different dresses that I had been in love with the first was a satin side cinched dropped waist sweetheart neckline with no sleeves. It was a little heavy to wear for an August wedding but it fit my body perfectly. The other dress I found was a empire waist ball gown. the gown had layers of polka dot tool and lace. it reminded me of my what my grandmother would have liked. However, after so many dresses my father finally said, "how hard is it to find a dress." So my mom, dad and I went to a place in NH called Marry and Tux. Here they had one of the dresses I liked and I tried on for my dad. right away he said no. He then saw a dress on a mannequin; it was sweetheart neckline, dropped waist and tons of beads. He wanted me to try it on. At first I didn't want to but then I humored him and did. We all fell in love with the dress. The sequins were gorgeous and placed almost like ivy going down the dress. The thread that was used was a silver metallic. It showed off my body so well too. It was almost like a chiffon fabric, very light and sheer. My dad had one request which was a two tiered veil so when I put that on and saw myself in the mirror I knew it was the one.
The woman told us that the dress was from a designer in Florida. They were able to receive this dress because when they went to Texas for their annual purchases to get dresses to bring back the designer was there. The designer wasn't very known. The woman said that this boutique was the only one that brought back the designers inventory from the many shops that went.

I knew I wanted a dress I could easily dance in. So I surprised everyone except for one of my bridesmaids who was in on it. It was a sweetheart neckline with spaghetti straps and an empire waist. The bust area was full of silver glitter polka dots. The waist was tool with some of the glitter thrown throughout it. It was a great way to surprise everyone and make a statement.
My aunt was able to take material from my mother’s wedding dress and make two garters for me. One for me to wear and have and another to use for the garter toss. My aunt also put blue ribbon in it. Something new was a bracelet some of the bridesmaids gave me. They knew that I had wished for my memere to be here to see me get married. But since she was taken by the Lord to be with Him the girls got me an Alex and Ani silver hummingbird bracelet. The girls knew my memere loved hummingbirds. It was such a special and precious gift that made me feel so loved. It was wonderful to know that I had such amazing women in my party.
Planning the wedding began to be stressful when it was getting closer to the time. Partially because I was saving mostly everything a few months before the wedding. There were also a few people who didn't see my vision and told me "it was stupid, why would you do that?" Trying to please everyone took a heavy toll on me and I almost felt like the wedding designing wasn't going the way I wanted it to go but the way others wanted it to go. After a breaking point I basically said, "screw it" and did what my husband (fiancé at the time) and I wanted.
What colors did you use for the Wedding?
Well the groom wore ivory while the groomsmen wore a bluish purple color to match the bridesmaid dresses. My sister, the MOH was in the color but had silver on it to stand out. Her bouquet was also wrapped in silver. The colors were placed throughout the venue; blues, purples and silver. I didn't have real flowers because it would have been too expensive. My flowers I got from etsy through BlueLilyBridal. She worked with my budget and taste. She gave ideas for flowers to choose from. Through her thou the Real Touch Flower bouquets were beautiful and you and your bridesmaids can keep them for the rest of the years. I also received through her the toss bouquet, men's boutonnieres, my mother and mother in-laws bouquets, and the boutonnieres for our grandmothers. The centerpieces i made with our colors. Table linen I chose a color, Ivory, from the venue.

The theme was a work in process. We at first wanted to just have a color theme but realized it wasn’t showing off our personalities as much as we wanted it to. So we thought of the things we like to do and tried to incorporate it into the wedding. We did our engagement photos serial killer themed also some photos we did x-files and some were of us reading comic books. Peter’s best-man, David, at the time we found out was leaving for boot camp and wouldn’t be home for the wedding so we had him dress up as the serial killer. Since he wouldn’t be able to be a part of the wedding we wanted him to be a part of the photos. Peter later gave the role as best man to David’s brother Dan and later we found out his original best man would be able to be at the wedding. It was definitely a challenging situation because we didn’t want to take the title away from Dan and give back to David; so we came up with David saying a blessing before the speeches at the reception. Our ceremony was classic but we had music from video games and tv shows. The bridal party walked down to the Lost Odyssey original soundtrack A Sign of Hope. I walk down to Game of Thrones theme song; the doors opened as soon as the violins started.
At the reception we had a geeky chic theme. Each table numbers had photos of comic book heroes and villains that were married. For example; Batman and Catwoman, Superman and Lois Lane. We asked guests to sign their name in a guest book the photographer made filled with our engagement photos or sign on trading cards with a comment or suggestion for married life. We had little superhero figures placed at the table and bar. Our cake was Mario themed and the song being played was the Super Mario Bros: Theme - London Philharmonic Orchestra and Andrew Skeet.
The groomsmen picked superheroes and wore a logo shirt under it for pictures.

For both bride and groom all you need is each other during the planning process; listen and communicate with each other. It is extremely tough to hear some reactions of what your bridal party or even parents think of how you and your fiancé are planning the wedding. Just keep in mind that not only it is your wedding but it honestly shouldn't matter how everything gets put together. Easier said then done when either one family or both are helping you pay for the wedding and you feel obliged to please everyone. However, being pulled back and forth will stress you out and make you unhappy. Just know that no matter what it will be perfect day because knowing you are spending the rest of your life with the person that loves you for you is more than enough. The moment you see your man waiting for you down the aisle your whole mind puts up a tunnel vision and he is the only one you see. When I was walking down that aisle I could have cared less if it was down pouring outside or if my dress got ruined or if we were running late; none of it mattered. All I saw was him looking at me, I didn't even hear the music. Feelings overwhelmed me; It was a feeling of complete satisfaction, happiness and security.
Well, we are living with my parents. They have provided us a place to live to save money. This helps us out a lot especially since we both had no full time jobs at the time. Now, I do and Peter, my husband, is trying to change his rate in the Coast Guard; so he will be going away soon for A-School. Yes, it would be nice living on our own starting our family but it's been wonderful here. We couldn't have asked for a better living situation. Of course it was bumpy at first yet, after sitting down and discussing things we are all on the same page. Peter and I have the basement as our entertainment area which is a place for use to escape and hang.
We help our folks out with chores, keeping things tidy, and as of now rent. The only challenge is my folks are not religious. Peter and I have our Christian faith. Him and I are trying to pray together and go to church together or watch Joel Osteen once a week together. Saying thanks at the kitchen table has never happened out loud. Peter and I end up holding hands and saying a quick thanks to ourselves, not out loud. Him and I are working on that.
Our mind set is very different than our folks yet I believe God put us there to help them. My dad was recently laid off this passed spring and Peter and I have expressed to him to stay positive and in faith; that we know God will provide us with all we need. After praying for my father to be open to God's word, Peter and I have been able to get my father to sit down and watch Joel Osteen with us. This is why I know we are exactly where we need to be in our married life; we are so blessed in our marriage and our faith in Christ that we know this is our year, that more blessings will come.
