New York Fashion Week EditionBy Elizabeth McLaughlin Fashion Week for me is one of the most important times of the year, especially this season. All the snow and horrible weather has been leaving everything colorless and dull. Fashion Week brings so much excitement and beauty to the city and I couldn't wait! Before packing my bags for the city, I had to do some prepping. I started my fashion week prepping with the outfit. I ended up deciding on a beautiful burgundy, lace Diane von Fürstenberg dress from Rent the Runway. I love Rent the Runway. It is perfect for when I am attending a special event and only plan on wearing my dress of choice once. It also makes wearing designer clothing for events highly attainable. Most prices range from $40-$150 and they have a huge list of designers. The rental also comes with an option of an additional size at no extra cost. Definitely check it out. Since my dress is delicate and sophisticated, I wanted to pair it with a structured Kent Stetson clutch. Kent Stetson is known for his bold and alluring prints. This particular clutch is featuring the historic Turk's Head building located in downtown Providence, which happens to be his favorite structure. For heels I wore my Ambrosina peep toe Christian Louboutins. The sheer, chiffon pumps tie together the delicate and sophisticated look. F is for fashion week & fur! I topped the ensemble with my black, classic Bebe fur coat. Lastly, I paired the outfit with my black onyx Tiffany & Co. bracelet and black, fringe earrings for subtle jewelry (earrings not pictured here). The night before I left for New York, John & I entertained a few friends for dinner. After dinner, I got my nails done by my talented friend and evening guest Melanie Santos. I was inspired by Samantha Jones' nails in the Sex and the City 2 movie. We used a rhinestone nail packet from Sally's Beauty Supply with some red gemstones to match my Diane von Fürstenberg dress. I woke up around 6 am to start my morning with a cup of chai tea, a french vanilla muffin from Wegmans (they are to die for) & a few makeup brushes. Yes I had to do my makeup that early. Thankfully, the urban decay eye makeup pallet and primer are amazing. I went for a subtle smoky eye look. After I was done with my makeup I was off to the Big Apple for some Big Fashion. Come back for more NYFW inside the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tent!
