Fashion Week in New York was such a great experience and also a part of my PR job. I attended a lot of shows and events including Philipp Plein, the Hong Kong After Party, Chromat, Concept Korea After Party, Romeo Hunte, Vivienne Hu & Tibi. I attended some shows and went to brunch with my stylist friend Shannon Campbell and even met Phaedra Parks! Scroll down to see highlights from my favorite shows. T I B I The runway video was so well done that I decided to include it in lieu of photos. Tibi's looks were very airy for a F/W collection which was refreshing. I loved the way the pieces glided down the runway. My favorite look was the black floor length dress with silver sequin accents on the chest and neckline area. Celebrities in attendance include: Olivia Palermo, Ashleigh Murray and Ashleigh Murray. P H I L I P P P L E I N What a show. This was one of the most anticipated runway shows all week. Philipp Plein always goes big with his events. This time he had fake snow falling and Migos performing before the runway show. There was even a robot that walked the debut model Irina Shayk down the runway. There were a range of mens and womenswear looks from colorful furs to "blade runner" all spandex suits. The right picture showcases a gown with a clear jacket over it. It is an interesting look that I haven't seen before. Celebrities in attendance include: Kate Upton, Victoria Justice, Irina Shayk, Sofia Resing, Teyana Taylor, Shanina Shaik, Justin Dior Combs and Jackie Cruz. V I V I E N N E H U Vivienne Hu has a way of incorporating fur in interesting ways with her F/W collections whether it be fur pockets or sleeve accents. These two are great sellable pieces for the fall. I loved the olive color choice with accents of fur and feathers. Hu has a way of keeping classic looks interesting. Celebrities in attendance included Stassi Schroeder and Miss Universe Demi-Leigh. T A D A S H I S H O J I Tadashi was such a great show. Out of the collection I really enjoyed these above two looks. The piece on the right is what I call a "midnight dream". I LOVE this type of dress. I think it is so ethereal and powerful at the same time. The dress on the left has a high slit, which I love wearing, and one shoulder accent. I liked that it showed enough leg and then was more conservative on the top half of the piece. I thought the ribber fabric choice was an interesting accent for these two looks. S O N J U N G W A N How fun was this collection? It was a party on the runway for Son Jung Wan filled with fur, ruffles and fishnets. I think the accent of jewels on fishnets was a nice touch I haven't seen before. These two above looks stood out to me during the runway show. I especially like the fur coat in the right look. I have been seeing a decent amount of fur capes and wraps sometimes worn with a belt to secure it. Definitely a new trend for next fall. At this show I met Gizelle Bryant from the Real Housewives of Potomac. She was super sweet! C H R O M A T Chromat! One of my favorite designers went full swim and active wear for this collection. Chromat is a body conscience brand that promotes a diverse range of models including plus size. There was even a live performance mid way through the show. These above styles are my favorite pieces from the collection. I like the sheer accents featured the blue one-piece bathing suit. The seams accentuate the suit making it even more flattering. I also liked the two tone piece with black accents. This also gives it a figure illusion. xXx

If you are planning a trip to NYC this winter I advise you check out the Louis Vuitton "Volez, Voguez, Voyagez" Exhibit. So much eye candy. It was so great, I attended twice. Curated by Olivier Saillard, the designs featured include pieces from 1854 to present day. The exhibit is held at the American Stock Exchange Building in lower Manhattan and runs through January 7th. The last room was my favorite which displays designer pieces worn on the red carpet by celebrities. Admission is free! Click here for tickets & more information. xXx Whiting & Davis had their premiere store launch party on November 11th at Patriots Place in Foxboro, MA. My best friend Corey Davis is their Product Manager which includes designing the store and collections! I am featured on the walls of their store and social media. :) Whiting & Davis began in 1876 and is most known for their chainmail mesh jewelry and fabric. Their pieces have been worn by an array of different celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Adriana Lima, Michael Jackson, and Kesha. I love their newest collection featuring Swarovski crystals (photographed below). Their price points are very affordable, on average $35-98 for rings to necklaces. They make great Christmas gifts. Definitely check out their store. :) xXx Written by Elizabeth McLaughlin, Selima Smith-Dell & Hayley Darcy NYFW in September is always a blast. I go to way more events and can enjoy the Chelsea Piers rooftop bar. This fashion week in particular was one of my favorites thus far. I attended the Rihanna Fenty Beauty After Party with my model friend Paige Munroe. I also attended a huge fashion show, Alexander Wang! It was featured on the streets of New York and had a bus load of top celebrity models including Kendall Jenner, Candice Swanepoel, Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid. Between bouncing to different shows and after parties, I also found the time to attend Refinery 29's 29 Rooms Exhibit. If you haven't been it is an interactive fun house in Brooklyn. I got invited to so many events that I had to split it up between myself and my two fashion writers Selima Smith-Dell & Haley Darcy. Scroll down to check out our reviews from the best shows at NYFW SS18. W E D N E S D A Y Greta ConstantineBy Selima Smith-Dell I like to refer to Greta Constantine's SS18 Collection as a disco ball dance party for your eyes. This presentation was a magnificent line full of sparkle and shine. The collection consisted of a wonderful variety of silk tulle skirts, sequined tuxedo pants, and metallic jumpsuits. As I sauntered around the room viewing the collection I couldn’t help but imagine the pieces being worn by the likes of Grace Jones, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, or the late, great David Bowie. This was an unforgettable collection and a wonderful opener to all that New York Fashion Week has to offer. T H U R S D A Y Supima Design CompetitionThis spectacular collection was designed by RISD student Abigail Griswold. The silhouettes were sophisticated with selective seams and color blocking to accentuate the female figure. My favorite piece was the long sleeve white and black floor length dress. The sleeve even features glove like details around the hands. Abigail also features other designs that are more deconstructed and loose fitted with a fun zipper and off the shoulder styling for a more street look. I enjoyed this contrast during her runway show. All outfits were made from Supima sourced cotton. Photos by JP Yim/Getty Images for Supima Design Competition. F R I D A Y Manaola HawaiiManaola Hawaii is a swim and resort wear brand by designer Manaola Yap. Manaola uses Hawaiian influences throughout his collections. I love the ethnic patterns and cuts in the bikinis. My favorite piece is the one shoulder gold and black dress. Before the runway show was an ethnic dance. It was quite the show. Their swag bag was also filled with cool scarfs and candles. Vaishali SThe contemporary fashion line Vaishali S combines Indian heritage with modern style. The mission is to bring traditional hand woven textiles to the mainstream fashion market. This collection features luxurious sheen fabrics with woven accents. This collection also features modern touches of asymmetrical draping and seams placed in interesting spots. My favorite piece from the collection is the black and tan asymmetrical dress featuring one long, draped sleeve. ChromatI always look forward to seeing the Chromat show during NYFW. Becca's designs cater to all sizes and it is even shown on the runway. Her designs are described as body-positive and accepting. The name of this athletic swimwear collection is Serenity. Becca felt very strongly about this collection which is shown in this description... "To feel grounded. To practice self-care and collective care of our community. We looked at zen gardens, salt baths and healing crystals. As the grounding rocks have gone deeper underground, our energy has begun to heat up and become liquefied, molten. We feel a volcanic energy right now; things are about to burst, but new land is forming. It’s a chaotic, exciting time". I love the interesting cuts that she puts into her designs. My favorite piece from the collection is red bathing suit accented in the black strapped coverup. This piece also featured a cascading sheer train. Michael CostelloBy Selima Smith-Dell Walking through the Robert Miller gallery door into the Michael Costello presentation was like walking through the wardrobe door that leads to Narnia. I was taken from the dirty, bustling New York streets into a far away magical land of mystical princesses adorned in breathtaking, delicate organza. The gallery was buzzing with beautiful, well dressed models, stylists, and fashion enthusiasts, yet I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the stunning gowns scattered throughout every nook and cranny of the space. This collection was by far my favorite. It was full of soft, pale colors that had a very whimsical and light air to them. The gowns seemed to float through the space like the leaves float through the air on a crisp fall morning. S A T U R D A Y Mac DuggalMac Duggal is known for his extravagent dresses. The runway show was huge and featured an array of evening wear. My favorite piece from his large collection was the floor length sequin and beaded dress. It was absolutely stunning and completely my style. Celebrities in attendance included Carmen Carrara, Asian Doll and Sonja Kovac. S U N D A Y Francesca LiberatoreI loved Francesca LIberatore's SS18 collection. The theme was very "little house on the prairie" with a contemporary twist. I was so excited to sit front row to this show. I was interviewed by FNL. The lace detail on the pieces was the perfect touch for these feminine looks. My favorite piece from the collection was the remand blue pattern dress. Vivienne HuVivienne Hu is definitely a designer that I could see myself wearing the runway pieces and I do hope to own some soon. The color scheme was very neutral, black, white and light grays. Hu's SS18 collection was showcased at Skylight Clarkson Square. My overall favorite design from the entire fashion week was the high slit black dress featuring sheer accents. My second favorite piece was the airy, light gray dress featuring fun cuts on the neckline. Whoopie Goldberg was one of the celebrities in attendance. Jarel ZhangThe Jarel Zhang was such a fun collection that took every detail into account. The runway was even decorated in street signs! It was definitely interesting seeing these deconstructed and edgy streetwear pieces. The looks that featured opaque boots were accented in wild socks. My favorite piece was the blue layered coat. This SS18 collection was quite the wild card! M O N D A Y John Paul AtakerI think my overall favorite collection this year was John Paul Ataker. If you know me you'll know my style is sometimes channeling an ancient goddess. This collection was completely that vibe. The SS18 collection featured accents of gold rope and airy white pieces. Top models including Karlie Kloss and Taylor Hill wore Ataker's designs. My favorite piece was the weaved tight dress accented in fringe. Katty XiomaraKatty always designs classy dresses. This collection had a range of different styles from sporty perforated accents to classy cascading ruffles. I have to say the perforated white dress was my favorite piece from the collection. It had an edgy but elegant vibe while it glided down the runway. Mimi ProberBy Hayley Darcy The Mimi Prober collection was full of intricate handmade lace, and unique textiles. The clothing had an airy feel to them. I loved the way each piece glided down the runway. Mimi Prober's collection beautifully displayed the old with the new without drowning out the captivating craftsman ship from the 18th-20th century. Mimi Prober SS18 photographed by Randy Brooke. T U E S D A Y Miguel VieiraMiguel Vieira's New York Fashion Week collections never disappoint. This season he stuck to his color palette of the classy and timeless colors black, white, and grey. Each piece displayed a noteworthy level of beautiful embroidery with unique cuts and designs. There was plenty of leather which I am always a huge fan of. The models were diverse and stunning. And of course, I couldn't help but notice the fashion icons Ms. Jay and Nigel Barker in the audience. This show had it all. Thanks so much for reading my SS18 recap! Until next year.
xXx By: Jessica Varone Warm, sun-rays filled the Sunset Blvd Nicole Miller Boutique location in Los Angeles as I arrived Sunday evening. I had a moment to take in the beautifully designed shop and new collections [ever-so inviting] on display. Fashion enthusiasts walked in to see the collection, mingle, and grab a fruity cocktail or two. Influencers, photographers and a select few customers gazed at the models in the look-of-the-night as they stepped onto the floor. The #SpringItOn Collection: Vintage Molas, printed tweeds and geometric patterns. Juxtaposed elements of traditional Panama with modern New York City, gave a refreshing and exciting feel to the new threads. Nicole Miller's latest collection packed some serious "panamania" if you ask me. Standout separates and statement dresses also adorned the models as they owned their evening look. Jaw-dropping moment...when I saw the "Mola" leather jacket--certainly my favorite piece of the evening. Completely fabulous. Completely unique. The back was graced with geometrical embroidery design called "mola", indigenous from Panama. Apart from the clothing and models, another surprising prime focus: A bright, circular, and centrally located melon couch. It added refreshing pop of color that was an anchor for the guests to relax. What a fabulous way to kick off LA Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017. Looking forward to the remaining events and shows this week! LA Fashion Week Recap by: Jessica Varone Fashion Writer / jessica.varone@gmail.com / Instagram: @jessicavarone By: Elizabeth McLaughlin & Selima Smith-Dell Hi everyone! Part 2 to my highlights of NYFW has been a bit delayed from my Euro trip. Check out the best looks and trends for next fall from a range of top designers. What We WoreS U N D A Y Leanne MarshallLeanne Marshall is one of my favorite evening wear designers. She takes designer and dress-maker to a whole new level. My favorite piece is the lavender one shoulder dress featuring a high slit. The dress is airy and elegant, perfect for a special event. Her designs have such body and presence to them when they are seen down the runway. Influencers from all over travel specifically to see her show. Leanne's top-notch designs have been seen on popular fashion TV show Project Runway and now flood the runway during New York Fashion Week. T U E S D A Y John Paul AtakerOK so... I am OBSESSED with this collection. If you know me, you know I love channeling my inner goddess when it comes to dressing fancy. This exotic and luxurious collection by John Paul Ataker was both eye-catching and powerful. The designs featured selective cut outs and fun drapery for a dramatic look. My favorite look is the white long cowl neck dress with the gold wrap-around neckline. John Paul Ataker is definitely one of my top, upscale dress designers to see during fashion week. Anniesa HasibuanBy: Selima I just have to begin by saying this show made me emotional. Anniesa Hasibuan broke my heart in all the right ways and showed me what it looks like when an artist uses their art for a platform for social change. Anniesa is an Indonesian Muslim designer and in response to the recent Muslim ban and immigration policies decided to cast all immigrant and second generation children of immigrants as her models. All of the models wore hijabs, looked like royalty, and totally slayed the runway. I legit felt like I was in the presence of kings and queens. This show might be one of my favorites not only because of the pieces but what the show represents. Miguel VieiraMiguel Vieira is the master of clean lines and detailed designs. Miguel’s collection plays strictly with black and white fabrics. There was a wonderful recurring windowpane plaid print in both the women and menswear pieces. One common trend in the collection that is to die for is the combination of a pea coat or blazer paired with a turtleneck. The collection was a wonderful mix of leather skirts, fitted pants for men, and a wide assortment of beautifully crafted accessories and pieces that gave off an air of strength, confidence, and sophistication. This collection was certainly for the stylist New Yorker you see often times in the cinema of the era. W E D N E S D A Y Hong Kong Show By: Selima Three wonderful designers were showcased at this fashion show. My favorite of the three was Cynthia & Xiao. Have you ever heard about loom weaving? It’s this wonderful process of weaving where you interlace two or more sets of yarns with a loom machine. Cynthia & Xiao show was a delightful mix of colorful loom woven and tweed pieces with the occasional pop up of symbolic Chinese artistry. The looks were so well constructed it was breathtaking. But this comes as no surprise seeing that Cynthia worked closely with the likes of Alexander Wang and Vivienne Westwood and Xiao Xiao has a background in textile construction and design. Together the two are a dynamic duo.
Written by: Elizabeth McLaughlin & Selima Smith-Dell As you may know market week and NYFW run back to back. I just got back from the NY NOW trade show and two days later returned to NYC for fashion week. Such a crazy time of year, I am still recovering from it. Also I am now planning to pack my bags for Europe! NYFW is always my favorite time of year when I meet up with my fashion friends and run non-stop to different shows. This fashion week I decided to do a recap of the top shows from each day. This fashion week was very political. For multiple designers theme of their collection was "freedom". This talented and young shoe designer started her business in college. These luxury, avant-garde pieces are all handmade in Italy. This is where she attended a world-leading fashion school called Ars Sutoria. My favorite piece from the collection is the pink fur strappy heel. Pieces from her collection range from $600-$1550. The prices are actually reasonable for a luxury shoe brand with intricate detail. T H U R S D A Y Michael CostelloI always look forward to seeing the Michael Costello show. The pieces always have a sensual and daring feeling. This collection showcased fringe details, plunging necklines, and sheer accents. He accessorized some of the dresses with double buckle belts. My favorite dress from the collection was the cut-out, white gown. Michael Costello always attracts celebrity attendees to his shows including Paris Hilton, Ty Hunter, and makeup artist Carli Bybel. Also, I kid you not, there was a pink Care Bear front row at the show. F R I D A Y LanyuWritten by: Selima Smith-Del Lan Yu’s brand LANYU consisted of a palette of neutral and pale pastels. All of the pieces were soft and feminine. A common trend in the collection was delicate lingerie pieces under a variety of outerwear garments. Lan Yu’s collection had played with velvet, ruffles, floral, patterns, corduroy, tweed, and lace. The variety in material was quite enticing. Hakan AkkayaHakan Akkaya's FW17 collection was edgy with a dash of glam. The theme of the collection was "freedom" and the pieces were powerful. Akkaya's pieces stood out under the runway lights with fun metallics and sheer fabrics. Ruffle accents are seen in a few designs to softened up the look. My favorite piece from the collection was the ruffle gown accessorized with a solid belt. S A T U R D A Y GeorgineGEORGINE is one of my favorite shows of the NYFW season. The luxury womenswear brand started in 2012 by designer Georgine Ratelband. The fall/winter 2017 collection exudes a downtown, edgy spirit featuring a playful mixture of sheer accents, luxurious fabrics, and mesh. My favorite piece is the gold metallic and black mesh dress paired with short black booties. Georgine's impeccable style attracts celebrity clients and attendees to her shows including Stassi Schroeder, Patti Wilson, and Miss J Alexander. Francesca LiberatoreFashion is a form of art that paints a picture of what is happening in society without words. Francesca's collection name is called "Freedom". Politics played a huge role in this collection, which was also seen in a lot of designer's collections this season. Liberators explores how political power has effected society and how society's voice effected political power. Freedom of speech, fear, promises are all conductors of the collection. Different figures and powerful words are seen throughout the collection. Photos from Fashion GPS or the designer's website. Hakan's photos by: Stephanie Chang
Well… according to me anyways. I visit Miami quite often, usually once or twice a year. It is an easy and affordable “long weekend” trip for a northeastern like myself who gets sick of the cold. I was really excited to explore the Wynwood Art District and attend the exhibit parties during Art Basel. I would recommend checking it out at some point. Art Basel is a huge art festival celebrated in Miami. Although there are "Art Basel" events on South Beach and the Convention Center, I suggest the Lynwood District. The tickets for the other events aren't worth it. You can bounce around different events and galleries in the Wynwood District for free. I obviously went to "invite only" events through my blog but there is still a ton going on in Miami during Art Basel. Gallery Hop at the Wynwood Art DistrictGianna and I bopped around to different art galleries at the Wynwood Art District the majority of the days we were in Miami. There is so much to explore. Although with traffic is it a bit far from South Beach, it is so worth it. It is also very easy to park and walk to where there are tons of art festivities, food trucks, and bars (which happen to be on every block). The Miami ProjectThe Miami Project features artists from all over the world. My favorite piece was made from a chemical reaction creating crystal formations. If you attend The Miami Project Gallery, make sure you have at least a few hours to really take in all the art. Surface Magazine Party One of my favorite events during Art Basel weekend has to be the Surface Magazine Party. They were celebrating their Art Issue with Kanye West on the cover. We were greeted by a red carpet leading to a dome on the beach. Inside the dome was a DJ and projected images on the ceiling. It was insane. One of the sponsors for the event was Mercedes Benz. The CJ Henry Art ExhibitMy favorite art exhibit was the CJ Henry private party. The event took place in a private mansion on the water. It was breathtaking. She creates her art pieces in such fine detail that they look like photographs! It was beyond amazing. My favorite drawing was the wrapped riffle. Dinner at the Versace MansionOne place you have to check out if you are in Miami is the Versace Mansion. Former home of Gianni Versace, the Versace Mansion has been converted into a hotel and restaurant. The pasta dish is amazing. If possible ask to be seated outside near the pool. Be mindful while taking photos by the pool. The dinner tables are set up right by the pool and the servers think people taking photos makes a scene. I kid you not! I had to take my shots in under 20 seconds. Quite annoying but it is still worth going. The mansion also features a medieval themed bar.
How time flies! If you saw my 2016 recap, you'll notice how busy my year was.
About one year ago I was inside the buildings of Conde Nast, Hearst, and Times Inc. for deskside meetings with editors. These three buildings house top fashion magazines including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Nylon. I along with my many other titles, am the Public Relations Manager for Kent Stetson Handbags. This means I am responsible for getting our bags into the hands of celebrities, in magazines and on TV shows. Deskside meetings are for editors to see the products in person you have been discussing over email. Surprisingly the meetings are under 3 minutes. All the hard work is worth it when you see results. Some may think my job is glamorous with all the events I attend and although it is, it is also a lot of work. Although the events are fun, most of the time I am researching contacts and sending emails. My biggest TV & celebrity project was getting us onto the Real Housewives of Atlanta with Phaedra Parks. Magazine wise my biggest project was getting us onto the cover of Gazelle STL Magazine. I love being a publicist for Kent Stetson. Right now I am getting ready for NYFW. I am currently sending bags to some key players in the industry to wear during NY Mens Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week. So excited to see what goals I hit in 2017! Thanks for following my journey! xXx By: Kaleigh Guay, Toshia Galligan & Elizabeth McLaughlin Once arriving at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boston we were greeted by Chloe Wine Collection glasses of champagne when entering the perfume department. The Holiday Delights perfume event showcased fragrance designers from all over the world. We were offering the opportunity to select complimentary fragrances and have them filled on site. We learned that a lot of the luxurious perfumes are oil based instead of alcohol based. This makes the scents last longer. Before leaving we received swag bags filled with goodies including a Saks candle, notebook, champagne, fragrance samples, beauty samples and more. If you are still Christmas shopping I recommend stopping by the Saks fragrance department. Below are a list of our favorite scents...
